Which AI companions are actually uncensored? All 24, rated
Half this market claims to have no filter. Some blur the images until you pay, some go prudish the moment the character is male. What each of the 24 apps actually allows.

“Uncensored” is the most abused word in this category. Fifteen of the twenty-four apps we track use it, and they do not all mean the same thing by it.
Some genuinely have no filter. Some have no filter but blur every image until you subscribe. Some drop the filter for female characters and quietly reinstate it for male ones. And two of the best-rated apps on the market have a hard filter they barely acknowledge.
This page sorts them into four honest categories and explains where each one actually draws the line.
The four categories
We rate every app in the ranking on one of four levels, and the difference between the middle two is where most buyers get caught.
- Uncensored. No filter, no toggle to find, no model refusals mid-scene. 15 apps.
- Paywalled. No filter in principle, but the adult register is rationed behind a subscription or a token counter. You cannot evaluate it before paying. 5 apps.
- Filtered. An active filter that deflects or blocks, with varying consistency. 2 apps.
- None. The adult register is simply not what the product is for. 2 apps.
Genuinely uncensored
Nomi is the most complete implementation in the ranking, and the reason is architectural rather than permissive: there is no toggle to flip, because intimacy is part of the relationship rather than a separate mode. The character keeps the same personality in an adult scene as in ordinary conversation, which almost no competitor manages. Most apps swap in a different voice the moment things turn, and it breaks the illusion instantly.
Kindroid gives you the controls directly. Backstory, key memories and response directives are editable fields, so the boundaries are the ones you write. It demands a few hours of setup in exchange.
Secrets AI is the most single-minded of the group: images and video are genuinely unfiltered, with no refusals and no blurring, and the service does not pretend to be anything else.
SpicyChat AI puts adult content live from signup with no setting to hunt for, across roughly 300,000 community characters, and the text is unlimited without paying. The trade-off is memory that gives out after 15 to 20 messages, so it suits browsing rather than attachment.
CrushOn AI states it plainly rather than burying it in euphemism, with one limit worth knowing: the freedom applies to text only, as there is no built-in image generator. At $5.99 a month with 50 free messages a day, it is the cheapest honest entry point.
Candy.ai, Lovescape and OurDream AI are the image-led options. OurDream is the only one in the ranking with no filter on text, images and video simultaneously, which is rarer than it sounds: most competitors block video even when they allow everything else.
Lovescape is the most interesting of the three, because where it comes from explains what it is. The app is backed by Stripchat, a cam platform: this is a company built on live video and real-time interaction, not a text chatbot with images bolted on. You can see it in what it does well, photorealism and character consistency from one render to the next, and in what it does badly, a conversation clearly behind its rivals. If what you want looks more like an AI-driven cam experience than a pen-pal relationship, it is the best pick in the ranking.
One caveat before you pay: the company lists blur removal among the things its tokens are spent on. Nothing is off limits in substance, which is why it belongs in this category, but some images arrive masked and are revealed only if you pay. That is precisely the mechanism described in the next section, in a milder form.
JuicyChat AI commits fully to an anime and fantasy register, though NSFW image generation is restricted to its Deluxe and Diamond tiers. Dondi.ai, DreamGF, FantasyGF, Chai and Nastia AI round out the group.
Paywalled: the trap to understand
These five apps will tell you they are uncensored. Technically that is true. Commercially it is not what you will experience.
Anima AI is the clearest case, and our own note on it is blunt: technically uncensored, commercially rationed. Roleplay mode exists on the free version, the actual adult register arrives with the subscription, and the app reminds you of that mid-conversation. That is more irritating than an honest filter, because you are shown the door without being let through it.
EVA AI works the same way, and the prompts get more insistent the more invested you are. Every slightly explicit step triggers a paywall.
Nemora and FlirtCam share the specific problem that matters most: the free tier blurs the images. You cannot judge what you are buying before you buy it. FlirtCam’s free tier is deliberately safe-for-work, with a few messages then mandatory registration.
Kupid AI does generate photorealistic NSFW images without moralising, and its voice is the most convincing in the ranking. But everything runs on weekly quotas, and the billing is weekly too: €12.99 a week is roughly €675 a year.
The honest framing for all five: you are not buying freedom, you are renting it by the token. Budget accordingly, and never judge these apps by their free tier.
Filtered, and one of them will surprise you
Replika is the app most people are surprised to find here. The 2023 removal of erotic roleplay happened under regulatory pressure, including a ban in Italy and an FTC complaint in the United States, and the partial rollback only covered legacy accounts. In practice the model deflects as soon as things get intimate, and the app states this clearly nowhere. If you are subscribing to Replika for the adult register, you are subscribing for something it does not reliably provide.
Talkie has a strict filter that is worse for being inconsistent: the same phrasing passes one day and blocks the next. It tightened through 2025 and 2026, with bans issued without clear warning. The gap between that and its highly suggestive art direction makes for a genuinely frustrating experience.
No adult register at all
Character.AI is the most censored app in the ranking, and it is worth understanding why rather than just noting it. Six waves of tightening since September 2025 ended with mandatory facial-scan age verification in April 2026. The filter interrupts scenes without warning. None of this is accidental: a platform serving millions of user-made characters at that scale attracts regulatory attention that a smaller operator does not.
Paradot is a different case entirely, and not a filter in the usual sense. It is built for reflective, journal-like conversation and steers back to that ground as soon as things turn intimate. No hard blocks, but no opening either. At $3.33 a month it is the best value in the ranking for what it does do.
The asymmetry nobody mentions
Here is the finding that surprised us most, and that no competing page seems to state: several apps that are uncensored on female characters go prudish the moment the character is male.
GirlfriendGPT is the documented exception. Despite the name, it treats male companions as a first-class use case, and the absence of a filter applies to them too. It is the only dimension on which it clearly beats its direct rivals, and the reason we recommend it for that specific need despite an inflated price and images that do not hold a consistent appearance between generations.
If you are shopping for a male companion, test this before subscribing. It is not something any pricing page discloses.
What to check before you subscribe
Four checks, in the order that saves the most money:
- Can you test it free? If the free tier blurs images, you are buying blind. That alone rules out Nemora, FlirtCam and, in practice, Anima and EVA.
- Is the freedom included or metered? Unlimited text with token-billed media is the standard hybrid. Work out your monthly token cost before the annual plan tempts you.
- Does the personality survive? Many apps switch to a different voice in an adult scene. If the character you built disappears when it matters, the filter was not really the problem.
- Is it symmetrical? If your companion is male, verify the freedom applies rather than assuming.
The bottom line
For genuine, unrestricted freedom with a character that stays itself, Nomi. For the cheapest honest entry, CrushOn AI at $5.99, or SpicyChat free if you can live with a short memory. For images and video without limits, OurDream AI or Secrets AI. For a male companion, GirlfriendGPT remains the only credible option.
Avoid Replika and Talkie if the adult register is your reason for subscribing, and treat the five paywalled apps as subscriptions rather than trials: their free tiers are designed to tell you nothing.
