The argument we had missed
Text messages are unlimited without paying. Not 50 a day, not 15: unlimited. The trade-off is two things, queues at peak hours and ads, which testers describe as present without being intrusive. The free tier recently dropped from 150 to 100 messages a day on some features, but base text stays open.
