Ranked #16
Dondi.ai
A relationship that levels up, a solid image studio, a chat that lags behind.
What we liked
- +The levelling system (XP, statuses, milestones) is the most developed in our ranking
- +Media studio tied to each character: images actually look like the girl you are talking to
- +Photo-to-video animation, still rare in this category
- +Tokens refunded automatically when a generation fails
What we did not
- −The chat drops the thread: a character forgot its own topic after two messages
- −Tiny free tier: a handful of messages a day, then a paywall
- −Almost everything costs a token, including playing a voice message
- −Character creation sits behind premium: you cannot try it before paying
- −The privacy policy permits model training on your content
- −The operator, dondi.ai Labs Inc., states no country of incorporation
Free tier, no card required.

What Dondi.ai does well: progression

Dondi wraps the usual formula, chat plus pictures, in a game layer, and it’s the most built-out version we’ve seen in this ranking. Every character starts you at level 1, status “Stranger.” An experience bar fills as you write. Three counters track the relationship: messages sent, milestones reached out of a total, days spent talking. Levelling is fast at first. Level 1 to 2 takes a handful of exchanges.
The statuses do the real work. Starting as a Stranger tells you exactly what you’re climbing toward, warmer stages as you invest time, which gives the grind a story instead of a number that just goes up. The milestone counter hints at specific relationship beats waiting to be unlocked.
Call it what it is: a retention mechanic, the same daily-engagement loop as Anima AI. Still, if that kind of structured progression is your thing, this is a better-built version of it than most. What a short session can’t settle: whether the levels unlock genuinely different behaviour, or just a bar that moves.
Dondi.ai’s roster

The Browse page is a well-stocked gallery sorted into trending and popular rows, with a carousel of featured characters up top. The usual spread of archetypes is there, a police officer, a nun, various model types, each with a portrait. Male characters and an anime world are in the mix too, not an afterthought bolted on. The library runs deep enough that you won’t burn through it in one sitting, and navigation is just two entries, Browse and Chat. Three clicks and you’re in a conversation.
The weak spot: Dondi.ai’s conversation
This is where the product slips, and it matters for a companion.
A documented episode tells the story precisely: the character opens with a flirty line, gets asked a plain question in return, what do you do when you’re not modelling? The character’s answer: a soft smile, “I lost my train of thought,” and a request to be reminded what they were talking about. Two messages in. An easy question. The thread was gone.
One run doesn’t make a rule, and these models vary from character to character. Dondi may well hold up better when you follow the seduction script it wants, and refusing to play along might be what throws it off. But a companion that only handles the flirting and stumbles on ordinary conversation is a limited companion.
Worth noting: this contradicts the operator’s own marketing, which sells a persistent memory graph and continuity over weeks. That claim gets repeated verbatim across most pages that cover Dondi, plenty of them affiliate pages built to sell the subscription, not assess it. What actually happens in a real conversation says otherwise. If memory is your criterion, Nomi holds it better, and proves it.
Dondi.ai’s media studio: images and video

This is where the investment shows. Each character has its own studio: describe a scene, pick from quick preset tags, choose a portrait resolution, get an image of that specific character. A spicy toggle controls explicitness. Each generation costs a token, and pleasantly, a failed generation refunds you automatically.
The studio does video too, with an option that animates a still photo into a clip. That’s one of the harder features to pull off in this space, and having it puts Dondi ahead of the stills-only crowd. Video stays the most token-hungry, most variable feature: treat it as an occasional treat, not the main use.
The real advantage: the studio is tied to the character. Your images look like the companion you’re talking to, not a stranger generated at random. That’s the same consistency that makes Secret Desires AI feel cohesive.
Voice, and building your own
Any message you receive can be played as spoken audio instead of read. Genuine immersion gain, but metered: one token per playback. You won’t leave the voice running constantly without a well-stocked subscription. A nice option, not a core feature.
Character creation, meanwhile, sits entirely behind the paywall. Subscribers build their own companions to spec; everyone else gets the catalogue. That’s the category norm now, but if a bespoke companion is exactly what you came for, you pay before you get to try.
How much does Dondi.ai cost, and how do tokens work?
Dondi runs on tokens, and the free tier is tight. A small starting balance, and more restrictively, a daily message count down to a handful, after which the paywall drops. Tokens fund the rest: images, video, voice playback.
On the plan screen, the yearly option shows $71.88, framed as roughly $1.38 a week, and the monthly plan $14.99, with a limited-time discount pushing hard toward the annual deal. Premium unlocks character creation, 18+ images and videos, unlimited uncensored chat, on-demand voice messages, priority access to new features, and 200 tokens a month.
The structure is standard, but the free cap is low enough to be a demo rather than a trial: you barely get going before it asks for your card. Kupid AI lets you chat considerably longer before charging.
Does Dondi.ai allow NSFW content?
No ambiguity about what this product is for. Characters open flirty, the studio is built around explicit generation with its dedicated toggle and blunt preset tags, and the premium pitch promises unlimited uncensored chat plus 18+ images and videos. Age confirmation on entry. The browsable catalogue stays clothed and suggestive; the explicit material sits behind the subscription. Broad roster, male characters and an anime world included.
If you wanted a softer, romance-first companion, or something casual, this immediately spicy tuning isn’t it.
Flip the studio’s spicy toggle and a clothed portrait prompt turns into full nudity on the same character face, no manual workaround needed. The toggle is the feature.
The thing not to miss: your conversations feed training
It’s written in their privacy policy, which we read: your content and interaction data may be processed by AI systems, and that processing includes model training and improvement. No opt-out mechanism is described.
Add that the operator, “dondi.ai Labs Inc.,” states no country of incorporation. So you know neither where your data sits, nor under which jurisdiction to claim it back.
Be wary of what you’ll read elsewhere: some pages rank Dondi among the good pupils on privacy. Its own policy says the opposite. If this criterion matters, Nastia AI is the obvious alternative: European operator, a public address, conversation export.
What you can check on Dondi.ai for free in ten minutes
Signing up asks for no payment details. So you have a handful of messages to make up your mind, and you should spend them well.
Ask a plain, off-script question by the third message: a detail about her day, her tastes, what she does with her time. That’s exactly where the model came apart in the episode above. If the character volleys it back without losing the thread, your experience will be better.
Then generate an image and check the face matches the catalogue portrait. Disagree with your character about something trivial. A companion that agrees with everything has no personality, it has a mirror. Run these tests with invented details rather than your actual life, for the reason above.
Verdict
Dondi holds up if you come for images and short videos of a consistent character, with a levelling system that gives you a reason to come back. The studio is capable, the photo-to-video animation is a real feature, and tying generation to the character avoids random results.
If you come for the conversation, though, what happens in practice isn’t reassuring, the free tier is too short to form a calm opinion, and your exchanges feed a model with no way to object. Try the free tier aiming straight at the conversation from the first messages: that’s what you’ll know in ten minutes, and that’s what decides it. For memory, Nomi. For your data, Nastia AI.
