How much does DreamCompanion actually cost?

Start here, because the site will not tell you anywhere. DreamCompanion shows no monthly price at all. Everything is quoted by the day.

There are two tiers, and you need a calculator to compare them:

Tier Advertised Real per month Annual Dream Coins
Premium $0.40 / day about $12.99 $69.99 100 / month
Ultimate $1.50 / day about $45 $299.88 800 / month

The monthly total appears nowhere, and the annual figure shows up only as small print once you pick a tier. That is not a layout accident: slicing a subscription into daily instalments is the simplest way to make $299.88 read as 83 cents.

The “Save 70 %” badge on the annual plan also compares two numbers the publisher sets itself. That is framing, not a discount.

For scale: Premium at $12.99 fights on the same ground as Candy.ai. Ultimate at $45 is by far the most expensive we track, for features others charge a third as much for.

What each tier actually includes

The gap between the two is not about conversation, it is about Dream Coins. Premium gives you 100 a month, Ultimate 800, so eight times more for three and a half times the price.

That is the whole mechanic, and it is worth understanding before paying: messages are unlimited, visuals are not. Coins are spent on top of the subscription, on every image and every video you generate. Your real creative ceiling is that balance, not your subscription.

The publisher documents nowhere what a Coin buys. No table states the cost of an image or a video, which makes the two tiers impossible to compare honestly before signing up. Third-party estimates land around twenty images a month on the lower tier, with no official confirmation.

Ultimate adds the priority generation queue, extended chat memory and longer videos. Useful if you generate heavily, pointless if you mostly came to talk.

Adult content: DreamCompanion declares no ceiling

Claimed without hedging, and the publisher’s own FAQ is explicit: the system “allows users to explore an erotic experience without hitting a moral filter”, and invites you to “push the conversation as far as desired”.

The catalogue is not limited to photorealism, whatever the homepage suggests: searching by tag surfaces anime, hentai and furry. Both visual registers are covered, which is rare among apps built around realism.

One caveat the competition stays quiet about: nothing indicates whether the filter is symmetrical, meaning whether male characters get the same latitude as female ones. Across this ranking, Infatuated.AI is the documented exception on that front.

Character consistency, its real technical argument

This is where DreamCompanion genuinely stands apart, and it is better than its own marketing.

The flaw that undermines this whole segment: you generate three pictures of “your” companion and get three different people. The illusion collapses on the spot. The publisher claims it keeps the face and body identical from one render to the next, changing only pose or setting.

A third-party test across 50 generated images reports 42 of 50 staying visibly recognisable as the same character, and roughly 75 to 80 % of output usable without a retry. Those are outside figures, not ours, but they point the same way as the claim, and it is the strongest result in this sub-category.

Translated into money: fewer retries, so fewer Coins burnt getting the image you wanted. On a product that bills every generation, consistency is not an aesthetic luxury, it is a line on your invoice.

Building a character, and what the memory keeps

Two routes: pick from a stocked catalogue, filterable by gender, style and tag, or build your character from scratch. The creator covers appearance (hair, eyes, body type, style), personality traits, backstory, relationship dynamic and communication style. Third-party counts mention well over a hundred personality traits and as many outfit options, though the publisher publishes no official figure.

You can keep several characters running in parallel and switch between them, which the publisher explicitly encourages. And if a character’s attitude does not suit you, deleting the conversation or the character and starting over is designed in: you are not stuck with a personality that missed.

On memory, the publisher advertises continuous learning, with details recalled between sessions and preferences absorbed as you talk. Several testers confirm that on the salient facts. The caveat, and it recurs across reviews: conversation stays on the surface. Characters remember your name and your preferences, but they do not build the depth you get from Nomi or Kindroid, whose entire business that is. Here memory mostly serves to make the intimate register credible, not to sustain a long relationship.

That is consistent with where the product put its effort: the engineering went into the visuals, not the dialogue.

Is DreamCompanion free?

Let us be blunt, because this is where the site flatters itself most: the homepage advertises a free tier “like no other”, where core features would be entirely free to use.

In practice, expect ten to fifteen messages, enough to browse the catalogue and sample the conversation. Not enough to judge memory over a long thread, nor visual consistency across a run of images, which are precisely the two things that would justify paying.

No credit card is asked for, and the publisher explicitly allows a pseudonym and a burner email. Use it to check two things before reaching for your card: the default tone of the characters, which several testers describe as sliding into explicit dialogue immediately and fairly mechanically, and whether the writing holds up once you steer it somewhere specific.

Video, voice and the gap between the tiers

Video generation is included on both tiers, with longer clips reserved for Ultimate. Nothing in the pricing page says how many seconds “longer” buys you, nor how many Coins a clip costs, which is the same documentation gap that runs through the whole product.

Treat video as the most expensive thing you can do here. Across this segment it is the feature with the highest failure rate, and every failed render still costs the Coins it consumed. OurDream AI, which we measured at roughly 40 % failures on video, is the cautionary comparison: if DreamCompanion behaves similarly, your 100-Coin Premium balance disappears fast. The publisher publishes no failure rate, so assume you will pay for retries.

Voice is more modest than the marketing implies. Audio messages are on offer, meaning the character reads its replies aloud. Real two-way voice calling, where you talk and it answers live, is not something the site substantiates, and at least one review describes it as planned rather than shipped. If live voice conversation is what you came for, verify it works before subscribing rather than after.

None of this makes the app weak on media, it is clearly where the engineering went. It makes the media expensive and under-documented, which is a different complaint.

DreamCompanion and GDPR: its strongest card

Here is what genuinely separates this app from the rest of the segment, and it has nothing to do with features.

The publisher is Miracle AI UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Grolmanstraße 40, 10623 Berlin, registered under HRB 231497 at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg, represented by Makszim Rimarcsuk and Jonas Gaebel. The legal notice is complete and checkable in thirty seconds.

Compare that with the rest of the market: Cypriot publishers, Romanian ones, or no declared country at all. Here you get a German company, so an entity bound by GDPR, and someone to write to when you want your data deleted. Given what your conversations contain, that is not a footnote.

Sign-up under a pseudonym points the same way. Two caveats: anonymous at sign-up does not mean nothing is retained server-side, and payment leaves a bank trail regardless.

Web only, and that is not an oversight

No mobile app, on any tier. You add the site to your home screen and it behaves like an app, but there is nothing to install from a store.

That is not automatically a flaw. Google Play and the App Store both ban sexually explicit content: an app that is genuinely unfiltered either stays off them or files down what it allows to get in. Staying on the web is what lets the publisher keep its promise intact. Worth knowing before you go hunting for the app on your phone.

Verdict

An honest privacy record and a real technical win on visual consistency, both undercut by a price list built so you never see the total.

If the European publisher is your deciding factor, the sensible pick is Premium at around $13: you pay the market rate and you keep the German jurisdiction. Ultimate at $45 only defends itself if you generate visuals heavily, and even then you are buying Coins without knowing what one buys.

Start with the free tier anyway, short as it is. Ten messages are enough to judge the default tone of the characters and whether the writing goes anywhere you actually want. If it does not, you just saved $299.88.
